Free & Public Fitness Events
During the summer months, Minor Miracles encourages kids to ‘get out and play’ with several events going on throughout the weeks. Our first summer events were extremely successful in that we were able to reach hundreds of children and exposed them to a wide variety of disciplines and activities including kayaking, martial arts, zumba, capoeira, yoga, and much more.

School/Local Organization Collaborations
Minor Miracles is partnering with several NYC schools and organizations to make fitness and nutrition easily accessible and widely available. Minor Miracles has already begun working with organizations such as Varsity Boys and Girls Club of Queens by bringing their students to our summer 2011 events. Also, Minor Miracles is working with volunteer organizations such as City Year on community service projects. Our goal is to connect at-risk youth to young adult role models and re-enforce the idea that community engagement and activism is a great way to maintain a healthy body, mind and spirit.
Fit For Life Initiative
The Minor Miracles Foundation has begun developing a research program called the Fit For Life Initiative, which will begin launching in 2012. The initiative consists of 10 distinct pilot projects each taking place over the course of several weeks. Adolescents from the Astoria/LIC community will be chosen by teachers, community organizers and leaders to participate. The purpose is to engage students within the community to become active within the community through various modes of artistic expression, sports, and service.
